Episode 5: Brandice Daniel

Brandice Daniel credits her career and inspiration to what she coins “cliff jumps” into the unknown. Through unwavering dedication and creative persistence, Brandice Daniel paved her own way as an industry outsider into the world of fashion. By creating a stage for black designers, Brandice built a business model with strong marketing to enable black designers to have the influence and legacy they deserve. Brandice shares her wisdom on embodying courage in entrepreneurship and bringing a creative vision to life — a dream manifested in what we all know today as ‘Harlem’s Fashion Row.’ As a mission-driven creator hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Brandice inspires us to find our why and the strategies needed to create an everlasting platform for creators and visionaries alike.

Episode 4: Christina Neault

So what does it really take to host a fashion show in Times Square? Is it worth it for designers to invest in their own fashion shows? Christina Neault has all the answers. Christina always knew from her early days she wanted to immerse herself in the world of fashion. From consulting to runway shows and stage design, Christina’s calling towards fashion has taken her to every side of the industry — from early days in retail to an education at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York to the production of large-scale shows for nearly every major fashion house in the nation.

In this week’s episode, Kirsten Holtz Naim and Christina Neault sit down to discuss what it takes to break through as a designer, the new norm of fashion sponsorships, and what fashion shows still move Christina to tears.

What does it take to become a legendary makeup artist? Through creative control, adaptability, and the courage to love — Sandy Linter epitomizes the character of a daring artist. From her single-handed makeup creations gracing the covers of Vogue for decades to her notable romance with the late model Gia Carangi, Sandy has worked with nearly every top model in every facet of the industry, for decades. Sandy recently opened her latest exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum called ‘Studio 54: Night Magic’ — a testament to her experience, vision, and legacy in the industry.

In this week’s episode, Kirsten and Sandy sit down to discuss how to stay relevant in the industry, mental health awareness in the fashion industry of the 1970’s, and how doing her mother’s makeup as a young girl gave her the confidence to pursue her dreams.

Episode 2: Bevy Smith

Bevy Smith has always kept it real, but most of all, she’s fearlessly authentic. From fashion to entertainment, she stays true to her Harlem roots with the gift of gab and impeccable conversation. She’s a host on Bravo TV’s Fashion Queens, Page Six on the E! Channel, and now a successful radio show on Sirius XM called Bevelations, which is also the name of her recently released book. Bevy gives us a rare look into her personal journey navigating her way as a fashion advertising executive at Rolling Stone and VIBE, her journeys in romance, and her evolution into the Mutha, Auntie and Bestie we all know and love today. I had an opportunity to meet her during fashion week for a transformative “Life with Vision” event, where I along with tens of high achieving strangers were able to connect and evolve in a matter of hours. Anyone who meets Bevy Smith will never be the same. She’s an iconic treasure–someone that I am honored to have had on the podcast. She is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Her authenticity is consistently electric and inspiring. Also, don’t forget to buy her book released this week, Bevelations: Lessons from a Mutha, Auntie, Bestie.  There are so many gems in this conversation, and I hope that you enjoy the experience as much as I did.
